Merry Christmas to all! =)

First, Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year! =)

Holy $%$?! It's been almost 3 months i haven't posted anything here ?! (AArrrgghh!) Time does fly!

I'll try to post something new soon (hoping before 2017...heh!) but in the meantime, here's some new replies to posted comments in the last 3 months:

FrankEBailey posted this comment on December 9,2016:

Hi, sorry if this isn't the right place to ask, but Blogspot is a little unknown to me. Do you know if there's an overlay/underlay for Tomy Tennis that puts in the tennis court and net, and maybe an underlay that puts in the faint inactive LED elements? Thanks!

My reply:

No problem and yes, it is the right place to ask. I was working on an overlay for Tomy Tennis as well as other artwork for the MAME but was busy with jobs and kids so noting has been worked on more than 3 months now.

To for your information, Tomy Tennis is using a VFD display ant not a LED display (an easy error). And here's a screenshot of the Tomy Tennis artwork i was working on (the last time):

It's almost finished as i need to touch-up a bit the overlay in question. be sure i will upload it when it will be finished. Thanks! =)

Ronald Purviance posted this comment on December 13,2016:

Wow, I had one of these things when I was a kid. I had forgotten how loud they were. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

I wonder if Chris is related to me?

My reply:

You're welcome! And reliving memories is "magical" in so many ways. Yes the Mego STPB are very loud so that's why i've modified mine (before selling to a great friend collector) with a volume knob.

Oh and i think you'l be happy to read that i'm working on a Mego STPB simulator (actually 15% done) so that anyone will enjoy reliving their memories or making new ones. It's not coding that's takes a lot of time, it's doing the artwork.

Hummm...good question,you should contact Chris to get your answer!

"Steve" posted on September 25:

"I think Burger Time could have done well in this series. Pretty sure I recall a credit card sized LCD herein from Mattel"

My reply: " I totally agree with you Steve, Burger Time (the VFD version by Bandai) would have been a marvelous addition to the Coleco tabletop series as well as Tutankham (Bandai), Pengo (Bandai), Space Invaders (Entex) and a lot more.

Bandai also did made an LCD version (about the size of a credit card, good memory Steve!) and was distributed by Mattel, Tandy and Bazin (to my knowledge). Here's some pictures:"

A few Coleco Tabletops...

As i am doing an inventory of my collection (video game consoles/systems and electronic games), i think i have have a few too many Coleco Tabletops:

If you want to count, no need as there is x33 tabletops, which are:

* x1 Zaxxon
* x3 Frogger
* x5 Galaxian
* x7 Donkey Kong
* x17 Pac-Man

And no Ms.Pac-Man in this lot but i have one Ms.Pac-Man in the spare box parts as this tabletop is the rarest of the series and Zaxxon following one step behind in rarety.

And these are only extras (no %?&%? joke!) as i have brought these in the last 2-3 years. So some of you are maybe asking "what the $%$?%$ he's going to do with all those tabletops" ? Well these were for some special projects and some Raspberry Pi/M.A..M.E. into a tabletop kind-of project.

These is two projects i would like to do and those are the Coleco tabletop Donkey Kong Junior (the unreleased VFD version) and the Coleco tabletop Berzerk (another unreleased). There is also the Coleco tabletop Omega Race but i don't like this game and i have others i would like to do but that's a secret for now (shh!). ;)

But even if i have some projects for these tabletops, i think that i have brought a few too many. So after i have finished my inventory and what projects i wanna make (in the future of course), i will surely sell a few that are extras but in the meantime, please don't send a message or comment to ask which/when/how much because i'm still not decided.

But i do have a question and i would be delighted to know your answers: Which arcade between 1978 and 1984 would you have love to see released by Coleco back then (not listing those that were released and unreleased of course) ?

As for me, i would have love to see my all-time favorite arcade game converted into a Coleco tabletop which is: Vanguard by SNK (Century in North America).

OK now i'm going back to unpack a &?&-load of boxes and making a new inventory....

revertebrae has commented this on August 02, 2016:

"Is your Wildfire really a TMS1400? The one in MAME is on a different MCU."

Hi revertebrae,

Yes, my Parker Brothers Wildfire  has a TMS1400 CPU. The one emulated in MAME (since 0.159) is actually the US Patent  #4,341,385 version as this one uses an AMI S2152 as the main CPU. If you check the source codes, this one has it's very own "CPP" file compared to all other electronic games emulated.

When a real Wildfire game will be dumped, it will be in the "hh_tms1k.cpp" file. Thanks! =)
